I reread the documents I have again, and you are once again correct. Margaret came over in 1843 , and brought her family over in 1848. When I first read it I thought they all come over in 1843.
Here is an excerpt of the information I have, As relayed by Mrs Catherine O'Boyle Geraghty (1843) to her cousin Anthony J. Oboyle in 1933. Yes it would appear she was 90 when she told the story.
The Tragic Episode of Owen O'Boyle Jr. and his Family To America
Margaret, the eldest daughter of Owen O'Boyle Jr's second wives children, emigrated to America in 1843. she defrayed the expenses of the voyage of her parents and unmatched members of the family to America in May 1848, Namely James,Owen,Brigid, Ellen,Jane, Dora, and Alice. Edward, being married and having young children, remained in Ireland. They departed soon after the death of their father Owen O'Boyle Sr., whose death delayed their departure. Owen ( son of Owen Jr)was drowned when their ship foundered as a result of fire and storm, when within two days sail of New York City. ll the members of his family were put aboard a ship that cameto their rescue, except Owen who thought that the lifeboat carrying the members of his family and some of the otherpassengers would be overloaded were he board her. In declining to board the life-boat he said: "There are too many in your boat now, I will go in the next boat." He could not get on the next boat, as the ship sank, with all on board a few minute later"
after their arrival in New York his daughter, Margaret, then unmarried had the difficult and heartbreaking task of making her sorrowing parents and her sisters and brother happy in the new home provided by them.
I've retyped this except exactly as it was given me. I find the level of detail in this document remarkable and quite frankly was somewhat skeptical of the information contained therein. sofar every detail you have provided concerning your O'Boyle history matches exactly with mine.
I am curious as to what you used to source your info, do you have a variiation of my document or did you get all the information yourself?
