The F. X. Courtway Obituary states that he was born in West Essex County, township of Gosfield, Canada. Then that he married Judith and then went to California in 1865 and returned to Michigan in 1867. After re-marriage he moved to Goldendale, WA in 1879. He was in the sheep business with his son Albert.
Louise's obituary states that they moved to Goldendale in 1883.
There is no oral tradition in our line of the family that Francis Xavier is one of 4 brothers who came down out of Canada. Louise told my Dad that his Grandfather came to Canada on a man-of-war ship where his name was changed from Courtois to Courtway. In a letter from my great aunt, she states that he came across the ocean aboard ship and that he was from Germany...
