I notice on the famous 1709 Map showing land ownership that on the Ile D'Orleans there is a parcel that says la veuve Couture which backs up to G. Couture land and is adjacent to Coste or Cote land. My french professor neighbor assures me this means "the widow Couture" in which case, whose widow? According to most online pedigrees Anne Aymard Couture died before Guillaume and long before 1709. So it is presumably the widow of a son. Can anyone shed light on which of the Coste/Cote and Couture family members owned these parcels of land? thank you.
