It is a long shot, but you said you had a lot on the ancestry of John Cowen who arrived in Boston in 1652 as a Scotish prisoner of war.Do you know of any connection between then and the birth of my ancester Robert Cowen over 110 years later?
My ancestry can be traced back to Robert Cowen who was born in Connectuit in 1765. He moved with his wife Lydia (nee Harrell) to "western Pennsylvania" where they had a son, John on 9 July 1800. I strongly suspect John had brothers and sisters as well, but it has not been proved.
One source said they had moved to Westmoreland county in Pennsylvania, but in the 1790 census I don't see a Robert Cowen. I did find two Robert Cowen's in Chester county, but they may be "too" old for the one born in Connecticut, based on the number of over 16 people at the same home.
I have taken part in the Family DNA project, but so far no real matches.
