This will be quite a long entry, but I have information on Coxons which others may find of use. They married into my family (Allison). I'm not strong on dates but begin at about the mid nineteenth century with Samuel Bailey COXON, who married Suzanna Bell and lived at Usworth Hall, Co Durham.
They had 11 children. All that I know of each follows:-
6.George Eliot - married twice, first marriage produced a child called Dorothy, who married Thomas Mawghan. they had 2 children - Margery (unmarried) and Thomas (? married someone called Glen), who had4 children, Ronald, Alan, Thomas and Jill.
George Eliot's second wife was Dora Lumsden. They had a daughter called Edith M. Coxon, who lived at 37 Bath Terrace, Gosforth. She died a spinster about 15 years ago.
7.Samuel Bailey (believed lived at Cleadon Towers, near Sunderland) had2 children, one of which was called Yvonne, who in turn had 3 children.
8.Rosalind Jessica (died 1917) married George Herbert ALLISON. their son John George (Jack) Allison (died 1960) served in Russia during World War I and married Dorothy Butterfield (died 1955). They lived in South London and had one daughter, Dorothy Rose Allison (born 1918), who married Eric T. Harmer in 1948 and died in Ripon this year. They had 1 son, Keith, who is alive with 2 daughters.
9.Son (died young)
10.Harry - Married Betty Noble with descendant called Noble Coxon Coxon, who died in 1978.
11.Kitty - married M.A. Golding. They had a son called Anthony who died in a South African mining accident in 1925.
Phew! I hope this information will be of use to someone, sometime. I thought I should record it for posterity in any event.
