Hi,
I have a probate file from an ancestor, John Hantz, who resided in Dover twp, York, Pa.
That file (the dates from 1823-1834) lists Caster Coxen as a guardian to several of the children of John Hantz, deceased of Dover. The guardianship changed hands several times BUT on one of the papers Casper Coxen lists himself as being the Grandfather of one of the children!
On the 1800 Dover census is:
John Hans1 male 16-261 female +45
Casper Cox 2 male 0-10 1 male +45
---------- 3 female 0-102 fem 10-16 1 fem +45
1810 John Hantz Doverborn bef 1765
-----Casper Coxen+45wife26-45
1820 Dover
Casper Cox a weaver 2 male 18-261 male +45 1 fem 26-45
the Hantz family in close proximity - John +45
and Andrew + 45
My Hantz family record shows both John and Andrew died in 1823 and 1822 respectively.
1830 Dover
A widow Hantz is living next to Daniel Coxen and Casper Corson is enumerated as 60-70 years of age.
1840 Dover
Casper Cooson and a wife are listed. He is 80-90 and she is 70-80 years of age.
I did not locate them in 1850 -- probably deceased 1840-50.
Am in hopes you might know which of Casper Coxen's daughters married a Hantz/Hans/Hons/Huntz or Hunts (Many different spellings in the records)
and who were the children of ----Hantz and Daughter Coxen.
The Hantz records show a Johannes b. 1763 in York county
s/o Johan Andreas and Maria Catharina Altland Hantz.
That is the only name given for him....his brother, is listed Johan Andreas "Andrew" b. 1768 York county.
Thanks so much for your time!!
Lynn
