Carl William Cradic, Sr., 70, of Church Hill, Hawkins Co TN, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, at his home following a long battle with cancer.
He was born April 14, 1939, in Church Hill, Hawkins Co TN, and had lived there all his life. He retired from the Town of Mount Carmel after 24 years of service.
He was loved and treasured by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He was a former member of the Mount Carmel Ruritan and was a member and former Chief for 10 years of the Mount Carmel Volunteer Fire Department. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Floyd and Vesta Cradic; brother, Albert Cradic; and sister, Bobbie Calton.
Survivors include his loving wife and friend, Jean H. Cradic of the home; son, Junior Cradic of the home; brothers, James and Ruth Cradic of Surgoinsville, TN, Billy and Belva Cradic of Surgoinsville, TN, Lee and Patsy Cradic of Mount Carmel, TN, Lester Cradic, Larry Cradic, Donnie Cradic, and Lloyd Cradic, all of Church Hill; sisters-in-law, Lois Lou Gibson of Chattanooga, TN, Helen and Hubert Lock of Irvine, CA, and Diana Ruth Gregg of TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Gardner and Rev. Pat Hammond officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Dykes, Brent Crawford, Jason Derrick, Debra Derrick, Carley Bledsoe, and Denny Steele. Music provided by the Gardner family.
Burial will follow in the Elm Springs Cemetery.
