Hi.I believe the Robert J. Craigo in the 1850 Macon County Census is either a brother to or son of the Thomas Craigo who moved to Gilmer County around 1860.Thomas was married to Leah Wright and they lived for a number of years in the Burke/McDowell County Area.Thomas is my ggg grandfather - I think.I won't go into detail about that.I have not seen any evidence of Robert J. Craigo after that listing in 1850 - I believe Lydia Ables Craigo went back to the Burke County Area (actually McDowell which had been a part of Burke) and there is a record for a LYDIA CRAGO married to WILLIAM MCFEE on Januaty 5, 1858.May not be Robert J's widow, but i know my craigos were in that area (burke/mcdowell) for at least 20 years, maybe the Ables where from that area also.Hope this is helpful and not confusing. If you see any more evident of Robert J. Craigo, let me know.
By the way, the mother of those two children who are in your wife's lineage was shown as Mary O'Craigo in one place I saw - if I run across the reference again, I'll let you know.
Advise if you think you might have something that would help my research on the Craigos in Gilmer County Georgia.Thanks.Dianne
