We are trying to break a genealogy log jam for ancestors that migrated originally from Anne Arundel County Maryland to Ohio in the early 1800’s then to WV in the middle to second half of the 1800’s. This migration took descendants of my great great great grandfather Thomas Batson Crandall to various counties of WV.
Putman County: His son Richard Hamilton Crandall father of 11 children including James Henry Crandall, Willis "Oscar" Crandall, .Charles Wesley Crandall, and another son William Homer who moved to Ohio near Columbus. Daughters were Sophia and Stella.
James Henry remained near the area. He and his wife Fanna Belle had the following children: Wesley Pearl, James C, Alla M, Ohor M, Fanna E, and Elsa S. He was remarried to Blanch after Fanna's death.
Jackson County: His likely brother George and his decedents who also migrated from MD and then Monroe County, OH) Children of George are Charles Crandall,Martha A June,Lavernia D. MAy,Herbert R Mar,Clyde E, Laura P, Jessey G,Alice
Fayette County: his grandson Willis "Oscar" Crandall who settled in Gauley Bridge and owned and operated a hardware store in that town).Children of Willis Oscar Crandall and wife Mary Robeson are: Earl, Ethel Midge, Stanley, Dale, Leslie, Flossie Beatrice.
Pleasants County where Thomas Batson Crandall himself lived and died in 1890
The logjam we are trying to break is identifying Thomas B. Crandall’s father and if this can be done this may connect us to a very old Crandall lineage in Maryland then VA, dating back to the early 1600’s.This name is not a significantly common name and there is a good chance if you live in WV in one of these counties you may very well be connected to this family. If you have any information that you may think useful concerning any 19th or early 20th century Crandall’s no matter how small please contact me. firstname.lastname@example.org
