Hi Joan, I am not sure why your request for an application did not reach the CFA. Dave and Cassandra check the mailbox regularly and we have been receiving other things. You do not have to send a lineage to become a member. You can simply pay the membership fee and join. We do ask that members submit their lines but it is not required by any means. I do not get on the message boards that much since I work a lot of hours. I just saw the message you posted at ancestry.com and will answer your questions as best I can. We did have a large online data base but with the old web site gone, that is also gone. David Crandall,Jr did still have Earl's info up on Rootsweb which has a lot of the Crandall info but not all of it. Off the top of my head your line was not familiar to me, but there are a lot of Crandall descendants and I am sure we have some whose lines wound through Wyoming County, PA. No formal update to the 1949 genealogy has been done yet. Earl had planned on starting one but he passed away in 2002. We encourage members to submit changes and updates for the newsletter for all to read. There has been discussion of publishing another Crandall book but it will take some time for all the contributors to get their parts done. Obviously there are many additions and corrections to be be made to John Cortland Crandall's book, especially the info about Elder John's ancestry and his history here in RI. There was a publication called "In Search of Elder John Crandall" that debunked some of the myths and CFA member Paul Gifford published an excellent article in RI Roots several years ago that details what we now know about Elder John's origins. I do have the 1949 genealogy, but if you would like me to check for your line it would work best for me if you emailed me at email@example.com - I do check email regularly. I am sorry about the issue with not hearing back. If you want to submit your lineage you can simply write out what you know or print out a lineage from a computer program if you want. Eventually we want to get the lineages back online but there are challenges with the new web site and the fact that none of us on the board is a real computer techie.
