The Jonathan & Janette (Forrest) Crays you refer to are from the PA>OH>IN>KS line of CRAYS. I have extensiive notes about him as well as his ancestry.
I am married to a CRAY whose last name was changed from CRAYS/CRAZE/CRAES, etc. over the centuries. Her line has been traced to four brothers who first appeared in the household of Joseph Crays in the 1790 Federal Census of Barree Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA.
The family came from Scotland as MacRae. A John Crea was enumerated on the 1785 Tax List of Barree Twp., then in Bedford Co., PA. Barree Twp. became part of Huntingdon Co., Penn. in 1787. I believe he was the eldest immigrant, John CREAS/CRAISE, b. in Scotland abt. 1738 - d. 1799/1800 in Barree Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA. I have traced the descendants of this line over the years to OH, IN, IL, MN, & KS.
