It seems like you and I are searching for similar things.I have an ancestor Edward Austin Earwood who appeared in the TX 1850 LaVaca County census when he was 6.He was living with Wallace(32) and Biddie(38) Chrisman.
My family believes: that Edward's parents are Mary Chrisman and Thomas Earwood. And Mary is Wallace's brother.Wallace was involved in the Indian Removal, met Biddie a Cherokee and moved to TX. Edward went with them because his parents had died. (I don't know the source of these beliefs.)Edward was born in TN.I found a record of a Thomas Earwood and Mary Creasman being married in Lincoln Co., NC.
