I have very, very good news for you! After receiving your last e-mail, I checked my files and discovered that I have a print out of all the Cregan/Creegan Baptisms in County Louth which was sent to me by the reference librarian at the County Louth Library. (I wrote a book on emigration from the Cooley Peninsula . . . so they know me!)At any rate you were dead on with Michael and Elizabetth. There were only thirty-seven Cregan/Creegan Baptisms in the entire county over a hudred year period. Most of these were in Cooley (Carlingford) or Dundalk, however, the list also contains:
Richard, son of Michael and Elizabeth (McGuire) Cregan, Baptized in Drogheda 10 December 1820, with Patt McClain and Ann Carlin as sponsors; Michael, son of Michael and Elizabeth ((Maguire) Creegan, Baptized in Drogheda, 5 June 1823, sponsors: Peter Sheals and Eleanor Devenuex?.There were two more Cregan Baptisms in Drogheda . . . much later: Patrick Joseph, son of Patrick and Ellen (Reilly) Cregan of North Road, Drogheda was Baptized 17 June 1896 with Anne Maguire as sponsor and Ellen, daughter of same parents, of Trinity Street, Drogheda, Baptized 13 July 1898, with Catherine Reilly as sponsors.
These later ones do appear to be connected (note the Maguire sponsor).I hope I made your day!
By the way, my telephone number is 1-506-696-2891.I'd like to talk to you further about this.
