I´m Jose Miguel Lopez Crego, from Galicia in Spain. I´m delighted to meet so much people with my same last name. A bit of history. My family lives in Galicia and the last name "Crego" means in Gallaecian language (very simillar to Portuguese) Priest. As long as I know, the Cregos were Church taxes collectors in the middle age at Ireland. After that, went to the young kingdoms settled in the territory named nowadays "Spain" into the religious&military orders of Santiago and Calatrava, fighting with honour against muslims, and finally some of them settled in Galicia and North Portugal. Our Familiar Shield is jacquered with eight in silver and eight in gold. And that´s all by the moment. We are three brothers Crego -one female in galicia and two living at Madrid- and my father has only a brother. My Grand mother had two sisters and there are a lot of cousins with the Crego "trademark"all around Spain in Madrid Salamanca and of course in my loved Galicia, at Ortigueira, place where some people says the first Galician Crego was settled in the XIII Century.I have noticed Cregos from Portugal and Cuba too.
