Janet, I'm also trying to break into the Crewdsons of Ulverston.I have only one piece of information to go on.I have a great great grandfather who was Captain James Crewdson of Ulverston. He was a sea captain who settled in Ulverston and died at 83 years. All we have on him is the writeup of his funeral but it is very detailed and has a listing of his children, friends, masonic brothers, etc.
He had 2 sons and 4 daughters. One son lived in the US in Pennsylvania and one daughter lived in South Africa. One of his ships was named the Ann Crewdson (wife?? daughter??).John Crewdson is one of his sons, Ethel, May and Gladys Crewdson were his granddaughters, one daughter was married and all we know is she married a man named Sam Wood. The article goes on to mention nephews and nieces but it is interesting that it never gives the name of his wife who had died years earlier. If you are interested I can photo copy the article or scan it and send it to you.
