OBITUARY
Jane E. "Jennie" Crocker [Earing, Goewey] was born in October of 1856. She was the daughter of Mason I. Crocker and his 2nd wife, Mary B. Crocker. She first married Martin Earing, a baker, with whom she had one surviving child, Harvey. After the death of her first husband, Jennie married Washington Irving Goewey Sr., MD, on February 8th, 1893. They lived in Albany at 225 Hamilton Street, which is also where Irving had his general medical practice. Their only child, W. Irving, Jr., was born on March 23rd, 1894. Jennie died from influenza in 1917, during the "Spanish Flu" epidemic.
Jeff M. has an image, dated March 31st, 1873, from a page in young Jennie's autograph book, featuring a note from her mother, Mary. The note reads:
To my Daughter
I will not wish you stores of wealth And
freedom from affliction
I will not wish you troops of friends Then hear
my benediction
Of those good things be thou posest That in
His measure God thinks best
