Yes, I think your John Croll and mine is the same person.I have this record from a Will Abstract in York County:
"John Croll, of Manchester Twp., yeoman. "Sick and weak."Wife: Clara.Sons: John and Daniel.Daughters: Madgalene w/o Frederick Hubley and Susannah.Mentions his loving father-in-law Martin Strecker and loving mother-in-law Susannah Strecker. Also mentions his dwelling plantation, including the mansion house, barn, cellar, spring and spring house, and garden, lying contiguous to the right hand of the great road leading to Newberry Twp.Executors: loving friends Peter Schultz of Manchester Twp. and George Lewis Lefler of York Town.Witnesses: Frederick Wier, Andrew Smith and Ignatius Smith. Will dated 02 June 1783; proved 14 July 1783.Testator signed with his mark."
The full will is apparently found in York County Will Book F on page 140, but I have never looked up the full record. It sounds like he had quite a bit of property.I wonder if he was wealthy by those standards and how he might have earned his wealth.
