Rev. Jeremiah Crook was born December 8, 1798 in Chester County, South Carolina and died in Lampasses County, Texas near Kempner September 24, 1883.He was converted and joinedthe Methodist Church in August of 1819, moved to Georgia, and in 1835 was licensed to exhort by Ebenezer Hearn, P.E., and John Hunter, preacher in charge.Jeremiah moved to Alabama and was licensed to preach on November 7, 1847.He was ordained a deacon by Bishop Pierce at Auburn in 1862.Then he moved to Texas and spent the last ten years of his life there.Jeremiah Crook was ordained Elder by Bishop Pierce in 1875.His example and precepts led all of his children and grandchildren that have come to the age of maturity into the Church.His greatest zeal was for the prospering Zion and his theme practical and experiential religion.His death caused a vacuum among his children that was impossible to fill.But their loss is his eternal gain.He died and is reaping the blessed reward of his labor in that bright world above."

The next two children were by his 2nd wife, Ophelia Adams, who first was married to Jesse Baker and they had 2 children.Ophelia Adams Baker then married Jeremiah Crook and they had the following children:
9) Ophelia Hasseltine Crookborn February 9, 1846 in Ala. 10)Emily Roxana CrookbornMay 22, 1849in Alabama"

Rev. Jeremiah Crook had a 3rd wife, Mary J. Booth, who died November 3, 1869.This is also in this article on page 217but does not say what number wife she was.( This is what I believe taken from the census reports of Jeremiah Crook's families.)
Child number 8 of Jeremiah Crook and Sally M. Baxter is my connection to this Crook family.I have more data on him such as his location in census reports starting in 1850 thru 1880.I'm will to share what I do have on this family and if anyone out there has any data on the famiy that Sarah Elizabeth Crook married into I would appreciate anything on them.Sarah Elizabeth Crook married A. J. (Andrew Jackson) Calhounand their daughter, Alice H. Calhoun married William G. Mitchell (my grandparents).
