BAIN (Crossley) - Betty Willena Passed away May 26th, 2009, in Lions Gate Hospital following a short illness. Born in Vancouver on January 25th, 1923, Betty was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Don, in 1993. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. She is survived by her sister Joan, (Roald), children David, (Julie), Deirdre, Thomas (Rosalind), grandchildren Dayna, Erika, Kai, Michael, Jennifer, Steven, Lindsay-Anne and Wesley, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Betty lived wherever Don's Canadian Air Force career took them, including England, Ottawa and Washington, D.C, where she hosted and attended many embassy events. After his retirement from the military, Betty and Don returned to Vancouver, and settled on the North Shore. They travelled extensively in North America, Europe, Australia and the Far East, and enjoyed many winter months in Palm Springs. Her hobbies included interior decorating, sewing and organizing social and family gatherings where she was a gracious hostess. Betty will be missed by her close friend Barb and other neighbours. A memorial service will be held on June 13th, 2009 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
