I know of a John Crotty b. 1850 in Kilnoe and Tomgraney, Co. Clare, son of James Crotty and Ellen Canny who emigrated to Brooklyn along with a brother Patrick and, possibly, another brother Joseph. John Crotty was a paper wholesaler in the late 1890s. Joseph was a printer/compositor circa 1890. I have the Crotty names from the 1890 Brooklyn Directory if you want me to look someone up. The above John was the brother of the James Crotty who became a successful miner in Australia who left £100,000 in his will in 1898. Most of the money went to the RC church in Victoria. See my message below on James Crotty.
