Recently I went to Ellon Scotland to look at some family gravestones. They are in the Parish Cemetary and the wording is as follows:
"Erected by Joseph Cruickshank Mains of Auchreddie Ellon in memory of his son Thomas Clark Cruickshank Bank Agent Lucknow who died at Auchreddie June 28 1901 aged 41 The said Joseph Cruickshank who died April 29 1906 aged 81 His wife Jane Bruce who died September 5 1906 aged 83 Also their daughter Isabella M Cruickshank who died March 14th 1922 aged 72 Mary Cruickshank who died March 27 1935 aged 79 Agnes Cruickshank Jan 31 1936 aged 70 Also their son Andrew died May 19 1936 aged 79 Their daughter jane Cruickshank who died January 22 1936 aged 89 Also their daughter Elizabeth Clark Cruickshank who died Nov 9 1938 aged 92"
The other one: "In memory of James Cruickshank who died at Mains of Auchreddie 26 November 1906 aged 64 Also mary and Tommy who died in infancy Jim who died at Bresaylor Sask. Canada on 9 Feb 1922 aged 32 years Mary Ann Henderson wife of the above James Cruickshank 17 February 1923 aged 63 years"
I believe that my Grandfather Robert Allan Cruickshank is of the Joseph Line, he was born approx 1870 and died in New Zealand 1960 in his 90th year.He lived in Battersea London for some years, a policeman initially. Had two sons by his first marriage, twins Allan (went to Australia)and John.My father George was from his second marriage. He migrated to New Zealand approx 1927 and brought a small farm near Lawrence NZ.Any information on this line would be appreciated. The gravestones were pointed out by a family member (Allan Cruickshank) many years ago to my father, mother and her sister in Aberdeen. Hence my knowledge of where the grave stones were.Thank you Raylene
