Capt. John Crutchfield, born & died in Sportsylvania Co. VA, son of Stapleton & Sarah Durrett Crutchfield.
1788 June 3, Stapleton Crutchfield and Sarah, his wife, of Spots. Co. to Jno. Crutchfield (son of the sd. Stapleton). In consideration of f101 5s. and the sd. Johns relinqishing to the sd. Stapleton 314 acres, 264 a., part therof given the sd. Stapleton by John Durrett, and 50 a. purchased of Thomas Duerson, the sd. Stapleton conveys to the sd. John, 395 a. in Spots. Co., etc, etc. No witnesses.
Virginia County Records Vol I page 947. Stapleton Crutchfield, Perkepley Parish, Spotsylvania Co, died June 17, 1788.Three eldest children -- John Crutchfield, Jane Lepscome, Agatha Woodfork; son Robert, son Stapleton, son Thomas, son Archilles; from district of Ky and county of Fayette; wife Sarah Crutchfield; youngest children Mary Noel, Robert, Stapleton, Thomas, and Achilles.

Frances Holladay was a half-sister of Mary Bird Crutchfield, who married William F.G.F. Burke, stepson of Frances Holladay.Lieutenant Joseph Holladay served in the Continental Line frm 1776 to November 3, 1783. (Louis A. I don't have info about the marriage of Frances Johnston (Johnson) to William P. Goodwyn, however notice her will:
Last Will and Testament of Frances Crutchfield
In the Name of God Amen.
I Frances Crutchfield of Rose Hill, Spottsylvania County, of sane memory, do make this my last Will & Testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills -
In the first place, for the Love and affection I have for my Two Grand Children, Ann Maria Smith and William Mary Byrd Goodwin, Children of my Deceased Daughter MARY Byrd Goodwin by her husband William P. Goodwin, I give and bequeath to them or the survivor of them, my Interes, being Two Thirds of the tract of land called Rose Hill, which I purchased from Henry O. Middleton and Wife, as will more fully appear by reference to a deed recorded in Spottsylvania County Court.
In the second place, as my Two Grand Children named before them will have, but having the same Love and affection for them I give and bequeath (after my debts are paid) all the remainder of my property both real personal & mixed-
In the third place, I do hereby appoint my son in law William P. Goodwin Trustee for my Two Grand Children Ann Maria Smith & William Mary Byrd Goodwin, with full powers to act and manage the property given them in the mannner that he may think most advantagous for them and when the youngest shall have attained the age of Twenty one years, he is then to make an equal division should he think it advisable-
In the last place, I appoint without his giving any security my said son in law William P. Goodwin Executor to this my last will and Testament, with authority to dispose of property to pay my debts, either publickly or privately as he may deem most advantagous.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 18 day of July 1829
