My father was a descendant of Robert Culbertson who moved from Caswell Co NC to Laurens Co SC about 1785; my mother is a descendant of David Culberson who moved from Caswell Co NC to Wilkes Co Ga about 1786 and then to Greene Co GA about 1791.
Dr Lewis Culbertson's famous book claims that David was a son of "Joseph and Agnes" and that "Joseph" was a brother to Robert.Since there doesn't appear to be any real evidence of this I have been trying to figure out how the Culber(t)sons actually fit together. 31 Jan 1761 James CULVERSON received for ten shillings, on both sides of North Hico & Linches Cr., 360 acres. ****************

Questions: 1)Does anyone know if this "James Culberson Jr" is the James Culberson (1764-1823) who married Mary Kilgore and was supposedly a son of "Joseph & Agnes"?
2)Do you agree with me that James Culber(t)son SR is a likely candidate to be the father of: a)Robert (b.1749PA-d.1840SC), b)James md Mary Kilgore, c)Joseph md Agnes Chittleton, d)David md Clara Browning and e)William md Mary Browning?
3)Is it possible that the James Culber(t)son listed in the 1790 Laurens Co SC census is James Culbertson SR of Caswell Co NC?Wasn't Robert's son James too young to be the one in the 1790 census?
