Rachel,
I have a Mathew C. DAWSON of Lincolnshire, EN, who served in the Civil War in the Ohio Inf Volunteers. He enlisted in Richland Co., OH in 1861 and was granted citizenship in the same county in 1864.
I have seen his middle name listed on a RootsWeb site as "Cuberworth" but I don't think that's right.
There in a John K. CUMBERWORTH, also born Lincolshire, EN who also was a CW veteran and lived in Richland Co., OH.I've come across a William A. CUMBERWORTH in Medina Co., Oh (1913), Mary F. CUMBERWORTH in Cuyahoga Co., in 1919, Catherine E. in Richland Co in 1920 and John K (same one?)in Richland CO, in 1927.
I don't know for sure yet about Mathew's middle name, but I'm wondering about a connection by relation or friendship.Any thoughts?
