I was hoping you would share your information on Amanda's descendants. For a long time my gg-grandfather's family was a mystery to me & I, like you, had to start tracing backwards from Alabama.I would love to fill in those gaps & find out if any of Amanda's siblings lived near her family-- I know where some of them were in the late 1800s.My gg-grandfather, John Emerson Curington, & his family moved to Navarro County, Texas after 1880.None of his siblings moved with him & I've never met any of their descendants. Two of Amanda's & John's brothers moved to Louisiana, which you may have already heard.
How did you ascertain that Amanda was born in Upson County? Her parents were married in Talbot County in 1839...Do you know when they moved & how long they stayed in Upson County?(They were in Pike County, Alabama by 1850.)
Please send your pictures of Amanda & James--I would love to see them.
I recently found essays written by Dr. Thomas Kirk Cureton, Jr. about Curetons in SC & GA.If I could find out who Amanda & John's father's parents I think they could be connected to Dr. Cureton's documented lines.
I think they were likely descendants of William Cureton of Hancock County, Georgia, some of whom settled in Talbot & Upson Counties, Georgia.
I'll be happy to share what I have. Hope to hear from you soon, Melissa
