Hi Simon, many thanks for responding to my posting.
Unknowingly you have aided my research of the Toye family rather than the Dade. The Charles and Anne C Toye listed are people who I suspected were part of my family, but I hadn't yet proved it. This helps a great deal in that respect.
The father of Charles Hubert Dade I have found to be one Frederick Dade. I eventually found Matilda Dade (nee Toye) in the 1881 census as a widow. She was listed under the surname Dode. A common mistake I guess for transcribers. A subsequent search of marriage records eventually found her to be married to Frederick Dade. Frederick died in 1874 aged 37, in Scarborough, Yorkshire. I can only assume he was born in that area also.
Unfortunately like a lot of my stumbling blocks he was born prior to Civil registration and I haven't found him in the IGI.
Many thanks again and if (when) I find a link I'll return the favour.
Phil
