Hi Barbara, Seems like we have the same connection to Oliver and Clara Dahlgren. As I said in one of the other messages posted, Oliver and Clara was my husband Larry's grandparents. His father was Ernest Leroy Dahlgren (aka Bunt). He was married to Sadie Louisa Steinhouse and they had two sons.David and Larry. Both Larry and Davidhave two children. We have a daughter, Catherine and a son, Jeffrey.David's children are Kari and Erik. Our daughter has 2 stepchildren, and 2 of her own, Cody and Courtney, and are the proud grandparents of 1 grandson, 2 granddaughters and another one due in August. David's son, Erik, will become a father this month. In fact his wife is due any day now. This will be David's first grandchild and is anxiously waiting.
Oliver has painted several pictures and David is also searching for more of his paintings. He knows there is at least one here in Duluth, MN, but have yet to find it.
We, or should I say our son Jeffrey, has a small canvas of a house in the woods, painted in 1937.David gave us that one so we could also have a painting done by Larry's Grandfather.I know he also painted a picture of Split Rock Lighthouse, as my husband spoke of it several times. He remember's seeing it when he was young.
David also has a painting but I'm unsure what the scenery is.
Oliver was a very good painter.I only knew him and Clara for a short time. She passed away months after my husband and I got married and Oliver died shortly thereafter.
Sadie's sister (Lorraine)(Larry's mother) was married to Wally Dahlgren, Bunt's older brother.Lorriane and Wally have always kept us informed of the Dahlgren's side of the family (that is his brothers and siters).Wally passed away several years ago and Lorriane is now living in an Assisting Living home in Wisconsin.
We visit with her (Lorriane) several times each year and she will be so excited to hear news from the past.
Thanks for replying to my message.Until the next time.
