I just received an original copy of "The Family of Zaccheus Gould of Topsfield" by Benjamin Apthorp Gould (Lynn, Mass.: Thomas P. Nichols, 1895. It states on p. 397 that in 1656 the grandfather of this Daniel GOULD, who was the Daniel Gould who m. Wait the dau. of John & Mary COGGLESHALL, embraced the doctrines of the Quakers.
The format used to denote the date of birth of the childrern, referring to the month of the (Old Calendar) year, was also used by the Quakers.
There are many indications that the Anna GOULD who m. Charles DEAKE/DAKE of RI was a Baptist. Charles DEAKE/DAKE and his son Charles, Jr. were both Deacons in the Baptist church first established in Washington Co., NY, about 1772 by the Rev. (Elder) William WAITE, also from RI. The log church was burned by the British during the "Battle of Bennington" (sic, Walloomsac). There is an historical marker to that effect. County: WASHINGTON' Town: WHITE CREEK, TOWN OF A LOG CHURCH WHICH STOOD HERE WAS BURNED BY THE BRITISH BATTLE OF WALLOOMSAC AUG. 16, 1777
Location: ON COUNTY RD. ABOUT 1-1/2 MILES WEST OF (town of) WHITE CREEK
