Has anyone checked out the family of Richmond and Joseph Reynolds, brothers whose parents were Joseph Reynolds and Priscilla Richmond of Hopkinton? Going back through the Rhode Island VR CD, this Reynolds clan clearly were close neighbors of John and Hannah Dake into the late 1750's in Hopkinton. There are some overlapping land deed witnessing events and also the physical boundaries of land sales show that the Dake and Joseph Reynolds farms must have been very close together if not adjoining.
Joseph md. Hannah Babcock and they had Thomas Reynolds who married Sally Marshall (that couple moved to North Stonington, Ct.). If Benjamin Dake's wife was a daughter of Joseph and Hannah Reynolds, that might explain why there was a Thomas Reynolds Dake as readily as our standard assumption that this was Elizabeth's father's name.
There is also an online message discussing how a small group of people broke off from a Westerly church in the 1750s - including Susannah Deake (John's mother) and the Reynolds. So at least there's proximity there. That may not mean anything but I'm curious to know if anyone has studied this Reynolds clan as possible kin of Elizabeth. / Tom Gull
