Augustus VanDake was a Medical Doctor at the area later known as Penfield, Monroe County NY who died 1810...earlier that area was known as Northfield/Boyle, Ontario County NY...new town formations and county boundary changes is why the different names.
Have you seen the book "Northfield on the Genesee"... There is a writeup about Augustus VanDake..son of Edward Dake and Mary (believe her to be nee "Gould"). If you haven't seen it, email me privately, and I will transcribe for you.
In Penfield, NY also was a Luke VanDake who married a ? their children: Luke Baker VanDake, Hiram VanDake, Lucy/Laura VanDake, Benjamin Franklin VanDake, these children appeared to have been orphaned as young teens, as their brother, or whom I assume is their brother Adams L. VanDake appointed gaurdenship Dec 1827 and sited these as the children of Luke VanDake, they were of Penfield, NY at that time. Witnesses were: David Safford Fassett, David and Jonathan Baker (brothers)...so am thinking for certain, there is more of a "Baker" family connection to the Dake/VanDake line.
