The history of the Dalglish Family as far back as we can track it leads to an area beside Loch Tima (About the size of a football field) in the Ettrick Valley of the Borderlands of Scotland near Selkirk in what is now the Dalgliesh National Forest.
There are two villages, Upper and Nether Dalgliesh which are where the family (Clan) originated from during the time of the Border Reivers.According to what can be told, there really is little difference between a "Dalglish", "Dalgliesh," or "Dalglis"
In fact, in several records, someone is born as a Dalgliesh, Married as a Dalglis, and Buried as a Dalglish. I put this down tothe lack of literate folks and the barely litterate filled out the only written records-the church.
My Ancestor who is the son of James Dalglish and Mary Morrison, immigrated to Quebec from Scotland Prior to 1875 at which time he married Mary Adelaide Thomas in Vermont.
He Immigrated to the States in order to control a case of Tuberculosis in Chloride New Mexico and founded a Pioneer Store which is now the town museum of that famous Ghost town.
Ever since, my family has been based out of the Minneapolis/St Paul.
