I have a copy of the Dallis/Dallas family book by Mary Peck, a third cousin to me. I will be happy to look up anything for fellow Dallas family researchers. Most of this book is now in my database. Unfortunately, Robert & Phoebe do appear to be the most distant ancestors to this line.
As for finding photos from the book, I to, would like better photos than the photocopies in the book. I spoke with Mary Peck a couple of months ago and she barrowed all the photos for the book and then returned them. They could be in the hands of a distant relative which I am trying to locate with the help of other cousins. so far not much luck.
My grandmother was Mabel Brothers and I do have a couple of photos from her family. It was her grandmother Savarah L. Dallas who married Wm. L Brothers that makes my connection.
By the way, Mary Peck is a wonderful lady, and does not research any longer because of her age. but she does write. in fact see recently wrote a fictional story about pioneer life in Dallasania,Saline Co. IL. While fictional, this story was based upon Savarah L Dallas and her life and times and family. The interesting thing about the story is Mary used her knowledge and facts from her years of interviews and research as a factual basis and then added in real characters who may have lived as she depicts.
We are lucky today with the Internet, it make research so much easier. Mary did hers the old fashion way. and she did a great job of it. Her books have been the cornerstone to my research.
