I see some of you have connections with Challacombe Dallyns. I have just found a marriage of John Charles Denis (sic) Quevillart to Ann Dallyn, Challacombe 1799. If anyone knows Ann's family I would like to hear from you. She was lady's maid to the Countess of Dyssart at Ham House Richmond and died in Richmond in the summer of 1851 leaving a will which is in the UK National Archives. Her husband was French, I assume he was a refugee from the Revolution. He was employed as a chef at Ham House but his will (also in the archive) shows him to have been a man of some substance with property (and a sister) in France. Their first child was born in Devon c1800 though I haven't yet found a baptism. I assume the birth would have been at the mother's family home.
