The book Damon Family of Scituate, Mass. Genealogy, 2000 by Richard A. Damon, Jr. & D. Bradford Damon was put together from a nearly complete manuscript left by Richard A. Damon when he passed away. It also states that it will be sent to Salt Lake City LDS FHL microfilm dept. late 2002. Another index referred to is Salt Lake LDS FHL fiche #6334620 which is also at other genealogy libraries. There were 250 copies made of the book in 2002 and was printed with the permission of Marilyn H. Damon (Richard's widow)privately printed for Warren L. Forsythe. All this information I am taking directly from the book. Mr. Forsythe is listed on this forum about 7 down from you showing he has 2-3 copies remaining, but it isn't a real recent posting.
I am basically an amateur when it comes to genealogy and have no knowledge of the documention of either of these books (I am from the Wayland, Mass. Damon line--also a book by Richard A. Damon, Jr.). I am still trying to track down some of my Townsend line, but that's another story.
If you'd like to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org,I can give you Mr. Forsythe's email and postal addresses. Oh, data give to Salt Lake City LDS, do you know if it's documented? Maybe that could help.
Thomas is listed in the book as a son but nothing was mentioned about questioning where he belonged. Does that make sense? The first entry in the book is John Damon son of John and-----(Gilson) Damon b. Kent Co., England Nov. 11, 1621 d. Scituate, Mass before Oct 3, 1676 then it goes on to give the other pertinent info on wives, children, etc. Also above that entry it says "By the late Richard A. Damon, Jr. Manuscript with errors as he left it the day he died in 2000".
Curiousity.....what does the Mayflower Society do?
Anyhow, write back if you don't understand me (I tend to not make sense at times) or if you would like more information from either of the books. Nice hearing from you. Pat
