The St. Charles (IL) Chronicle, Volume XXIV, No. 32, February 10, 1905:
In a debate before a Santa Fe literary society on the question, “Resolved, That Women Are Braver Than Men,” Walter M. Danburg, leader of the negative, created consternation at the conclusion of his address by taking from his pocket a rat-trap containing five live mice which he released in the midst of the assembly. Every woman present screamed and the two women acting as judges not only screamed, but jumped upon their chairs. The negative won by a default of a decision.
