Thank You Sandy for that. I can trace with proof back to Robert Daniell, still, In my line the two LL's stopped in 1791 and went to one L", but then reappeared with my Grand Father b 1844 but then dropped again with my fathers generation.?? Same people, same proof, just got messed up in the census or something. By the way, nothing I can do about it. It's how I was born.! I agree with you. What's with this hangup on the L's? William Daniell of Oconee co. GA lived to 96 had 23 children who had probably 300 more. You think one of those farmers in the early 1700's got tired of writing two "L"'s? Or how about the poor census takers having to write the families names in long hand. Man, if they could cut out one L here and there, it might have reduced the ole writers cramp. Anyway, two things I'm sure of. Proof of my lineage and that the proper spelling of my family name from Scotland and into the Americas for over two hundred years is DANIELL. The fact that someone dropped an L once or twice is of no consequence if there's proof of lineage. It would be a nightmare to change it back. But I have thought about doing it on my deathbed, but it would confuse my one L kids.
