Signild Linnea Danielson of Denver, CO, died Saturday, May 15, 2010. She was 91.
Sig was born September 1, 1918, in Worcester. She graduated from Worcester High School of Commerce in 1936. She married Edwin A. Danielson in Worcester on June 20, 1942. They were married for 65 years, until his death in 2008. The family moved to Denver in 1956. At the age of 58, Sig earned a sociology degree with an emphasis on gerontology from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She worked for Augustana Lutheran Church of Denver, where she became the church's first director of senior services. She also worked to establish the Augustana Early Learning Center. After retirement, Sig and Ed established a small business refinishing and selling antiques. Sig was an accomplished pianist, and sang alto in her church choirs.
Survivors include son, Ed Jr.; daughter, Sarah Waldorf (John), both of Denver; grandson, Tom Danielson, Santa Barbara, CA; sisters-in-law, Vivian "Sue" Peterson (Bud), Centennial, CO, and Doris Danielson, Bradenton, FL; and family and friends in and around Worcester. Services Tuesday, May 25, 2:00 PM at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda, Denver, CO 80246. Contributions suggested to Augustana's Senior Elite Choir.
