Thanks for the info - I finally had a chance to read it, digest it and check it all through - I've been plugging away at the DANKS best I can and will be posting my updates shortly and will advise - Hope you'll find something useful when it goes up.
I noted in the 1830 Census that Gershom DANKS is listed nearby the EMMONS-es - Harris EMMONS and Chauncy/Chauncey EMMONS - both appear to have been born in Litchfield CT, in the 1770s. What I found interesting is that the EMMONS continue to appear nearby DANKS in the 1850 Census of Rutland, Dane Co. (the families of Jacob and Isaac EMMONS appear near Royal and Eri P. DANKS) and in 1870 Rutland, Dane Co. Hiram EMMONS appears next to Eri P. DANKS and the EMMONS show up again in 1880 counts. This is the first "connection" I've been able to make with Eri P. DANKS and another family that seems "close to" Gershom DANKS - I'm still working to place Oratio DANKS (died Portage Co., OH, c. 1831) and his wife Ruby HALL - and it seems Benjamin DANKS that married Louisa POST is the best bet (Louisa POST was born in prob. Hinesburg, VT, and many of the children of Oratio were born in VT - unlike the other DANKes.
