Dear Edward, Thanks so much for all of this information you sent on the book about the Dark/Darke family. I have seen the book and copied pages about the William Dark I am related to who came to Louisiana and married Ann Coashti Neal, but I would love to read the entire book, so now I have an address to write to. I had also planned on returning to the library in Alexandria sometime to do further reading, but if I could get a copy of the book that would be even better. It sounds like the Dark/Darke family has spread out all over the USA since they have been in this country for a very long time. What state do you live in? That is so interesting about the General William Darke being a friend of George Washington. There is a local realtor in town here with the last name of Dark and I know of a young violinist in our state, who is very talented and has won some contests when she was about 14 or 15. We have heard her play at the FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL here in Monroe before and she is really talented. This genealogy research is really getting interesting. Gloria Koehler PS Just so you know how I am desecded from the William Dark I mentioned above, the line goes to a daughter of his and Ann Coashti Neal/Dark named Adeline who married Samuel Dowty, then to a son of theirs named William Dowty who married Sallie Smith (in Rapides parish Louisiana), then to a daughter of theirs named Gertrude Dowty who married Fred Couvillion (my grandparents), then to a daughter of theirs named Velma Couvillion who married Nick DeCorte (my parents).
