This may be helpful. I have received back my National Genographic Y-DNA haplogroup - which defines the origin of my DNA through the male line.
It is called the I1c Haplagroup (not 11c).
It traces the arrival of my line in Europe from Africa, a journey which started about 50,000 years ago to 7,000 to 10,000 years ago to an area in what is now Germany prior at the time of the receding northern icecap. Apparently a reasonable percentage of I1c haplagroup were concentrated in this area of Europe.
I would be grateful to hear if any other male Darlingtons has subscribed to the research and received similar or same Y-DNA results. This could be of interest as further information about the journey from 10,000 years ago to present day emerges for Darlingtons.
