Has your research confirmed that a George Walker (1754/55 - abt 1817), of Clackmannan and then the U.S., was a son of James Walker & Helen May?
My research suggests this, but I'm seeking further verification.
George married Martha Crawfurd/Craufurd (1777-1796) at Prince George’s County, Maryland, in 1794. She died in childbirth.
He was one of the earliest property-holders in, and promoters of, a new Federal City (Washington, D.C.) in America. He often represented Georgetown merchants and property-holders in their contacts with Washington and Jefferson regarding development of the new capital city. And he was constantly a “cheerleader” for L’Enfant, even as L’Enfant was falling out of favor with Washington and Jefferson.
His promotions of the new city included trips to Europe.
Also, have you found any evidence of related Walkers at/near Bristol, England? This would include a Thomas & Catherine (McLelland) Walker, who were gr-gr-etc-grands of the Presidents Bush.
Thomas Walker (abt 1758 - 1797/98) may have been involved in West Indies trade, including at Jamaica, in the last two to three decades of the 1700s.
