MISS ALYCE STEPHENSON, of 2021 10th Ave.South,who died Sunday,was a native of Chicago,ILL.,and lived in Birmingham 40 years. She was a retired employee of Social Security Payment Center and a member of Highland Presbyterian Church,Graveside services will be at 11;30a.m.Tuesday at Maple Hill Cemetery,Huntsville,AL.Johns-Ridout's directing. Survivors included several cousins.
Since the obituary is so short, I would like to add that she was the daughter of William Alexander Stephenson(1858-1894) and his wife Dolly Darwin(1855-1939).
Her grandparents were George Alexander Stephenson(1822-1894)and Elizabeth Sarah Perry(1829-1885)

Great-great-grandparents were Robert Stephenson(1754-1798)and Jane Barron(1767-1841)of York County,S.C. In the American Revolution in York County,S.C.,Robert Stephenson served with James Darwin,the great-great grandfather of Alyce Stephenson.

Alyce Stephenson was born in Chicago,Illinois, on January 5,1893. One year later her father William Alexander Stephenson was killed in an elevator accident in Chicago. He is buried in the Liberty Hill Cemetery in Madison County,AL. Her mother Dolly and her brother William Stephenson,who died in Memphis,TN. in 1942, are buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
