We have talked before, and you were so kind to help me with what you had on the DARWIN's. I know that this is an old Post but thought that I would give you some clues with what little I have on a Nicholas DARWIN.
I have for the past 5 years been trying to tie my DARWIN's in with Any group of DARWIN's in the USA. I have concluded that my DARWIN's stem from Richmond DARWIN b. 1796 York, S.C., son of George Cowan DARWIN b. 1771 York S. C.. Richmond moved to Tennessee whith his parents. Tennessee is where he married his 1st wife about 1818, her name Unknown at present. By about 1828 Richmond shows up in Alabama. He was not there long because about 1834 he shows up in Randolph Co., Illinois. This is where I have been doing most of my Research.
I have been Lucky to have been working with someone who has access to the Court House Records in Chester, Randolph Co., Illinois for many months now. I told her I wanted ANY and ALL papers with a DARWIN surname on it. I wasn't picky. I was trying to find some proof or clues of relationship to tie my DARWIN Line in with these DARWIN's. Which I must say was successful.
I have Probate papers dated from 1834 to 1926 on many of the DARWIN's of Randolph Co., Ill. One Court paper I have is dated Monday March 2, 1840 People vs Nicholas DARWIN Indictment for Gaming he was found Not Guilty. I also have a Nicholas DeRWIN (sp) marrying a Julyann Gass on 25 April 1843 in Randolph Co., ILL, and Nicholas DARWIN marrying a Mrs. Sarah Willis on 13 April 1847 in Randolph Co., ILL.
I have found so far with different documents, that the DARWIN's I have been researching from Randolph, Jackson, Alexander, Henderson, and Rock Island Counties in Illinois, do stem from Richmond DARWIN. I am very very curious about this Nicholas DARWIN, and how he fits in. I haven't been able to place him yet.
If you have found out anything about where the Nicholas DARWIN from Amelia, Virginia who married Elizabeth Jones Jul 16, 1739 fits into the DARWIN's from Louisa County, VA. Please let me know.
