The only firm information on him is that he was a enrolled as a student at age 12 in the Royal Conservatory of Music, San Pietro a Majella, Naples, Italy (now the "Conservatorio di Musica S. Pietro a Maiella".) and graduated at age 21 with the highest honors in singing, violin, harmony, composition and instrumentation.For 10 or 15 years he was a conductor (of Royal Opera) and teacher in principle cities of Europe and North Africa. He came to America in 1876.
