Here's a little snippet of information: A convict attorney, Lawrence Davoren was convicted in Dublin in 1791 (of what? I dont know) and transported to Botany Bay, arriving 1793.He is claimed to be the author of "A New Song", the manuscript of which is found in the "Bligh Papers - the Military Rebellion, 1808" in the Mitchell Library Sydney. An essay on this manuscript can be found in Australian Historical Monograph Vol XXXIII by George Mackanass, Review Publications P/L, Dubbo, reprint 1979.
I dont know where Lawrence fits into any family tree, but hopefully someone out there can claim him.
I am the son of Francis Michael and grand son of Thomas Davoren from the Newcastle/Maitland NSW area (where there is still quite a tribe of Davorens)
