I have no connection with the family, but I came across this page while looking for information on the school of Brehon Law operated by the O'Davoren family into the 17th century at Cahermacnaghten stone fort in Co. Clare, making it, to the best of my knowledge, the last surviving school teaching the legal traditions in a way that can be traced back to the druids.I don't suppose there are any family traditions or documents about that surviving, are there?Information about the site can be found in the Journal of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland, Vol. 27, pp. 120ff, 1897, and Journal of the North Munster Archaeological Society, Vol. 2, pp. 63ff, 1912.
