Hi Mike, I'm sorry, I seemed to have missed getting notification of your reply. I am not from the family of Thomas & Margaret but have looked at many of their descendants trees on line. There is a lot of name similarity amongst the males and females in both families, along with the rare fact that after Thomas died Margaret was listed as the head of household in the tax records and she took care of her own financial business in the 1700's. Rachel, the daughter of my Henry Dawson in VA got married and Margaret Dawson was listed as one of the bondsmen - and I've never seen a woman listed before. These 2 events happened during the same time frame. The other daughter of Henry was also named Margaret but she was too young to be listed as the bondsperson. There were no other Margaret Dawsons in the family in VA for it to have been unless mother Mary was also a Margaret but I have found no evidence that she was ever called Margaret, only Mary.
DNA wise I am linked to John & Rebecca DOYNE Dawson of Maryland who supposedly had a son named Thomas. I've never found any source for that but he's always listed with the family, with no other information about him. I did hear from one of the descendants of Thomas and Margaret that there were no male descendants from their sons on down so I've made no progress on finding someone to test to compare with.
I've been in touch with quite a few VA family lines who have DNA tested but so far none of them of them have matched. I want to say, if I remember right, that none are even close on the haplotype either. I have followed every Henry Dawson who lived in VA in the 1700's. Mine stands alone in VA. Thanks for writing! It's always nice to know that someone reads these messages.
