Edna Smith aka (Fannie Green) born in 1927 in Baltimore, MD was raised in Georgetown, SC by her grandparents.She met and married Daniel McAlister Day of Hampton, VA in New York City.He was the son of Frank Wilson Day a Trolley Car Repairmen working in Newport News, VA, and grandson of John Wilson Day a Bricklayer who had worked and lived with his family in the town of Phoebus, VA.
Daniel McAllister Day was also the great-grandson of Wilson Day, a Civil War soldier (USCT) of Stonehouse Managerial District, in James City County, VA.
Daniel M. Day was born in 1915, the son of Virginia Howen and Frank Wilson Day, served in the US Army from 1943 until about 1952, and was a Radioman in Korea. He supported his wife Edna, and family working for the City of New York Parks Department in historic Central Park from the 1950's to 1960's.
He and his wife were only children, but had seven children named, Daniel Day, Jr., Peggy Ann Day, Richard Day, Sadie Day, Sandra Virgie Day, Lorraine Doris Day and Deborah Othella Day, "the baby of the family", and lived in James Weldon Johnson Housing Projects in East Harlem, New York in the 1950's and 1970's.
Daniel, Jr. the oldest son had no children, Richard the second son married Mary Martinez (Martin), and served in Vietnam at age 18, Richard has two sons, Richard Day, Jr. and Gerard Day, born in New York in the late 1960's.
