Autobiography of James McBride
It’s only just recently that I began viewing this forum for relatives.
Many of the McBride related families, including the Dayley families, moved north out of Grantsville, Utah to Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. Most of the Biddlecome clan remained in Utah, but one branch was ordered by Brigham Young to go build the city of Mesa in Arizona.I am descended from that branch.
A typewritten transcription of the “Autobiography of James McBride” dating from the late 1800s was passed down in my family and some number of years ago I re-transcribed it.Though I retained all the original grammatical and spelling errors, I added editorial notes and illustrations relevant to the manuscript.
It has been checked with the original, and found it to be accurate. The original handwritten manuscript, of course, is in the library at BYU with limited access now due to aging of the paper.
Transcriptions of the “Autobiography” are easily obtained off of the Internet, but I’ve been told that my version is very interesting reading.I would certainly say that it’s a “must read” for all descendents of Thomas McBride, and also descendents of James Dayley even if they’re descended from James’ 2nd wife, Caroline.
This is a large file, over 1 ½ MB PDF format, so I can’t attach it on this web site, but I’ll be glad to share it with anyone who requests it.
