I don't know his parentage, but we have a James F. DAYMUDE who married into our family.According to Census data, he would have been born about 1807 in VA.He married January 4, 1827 in Fauquier Co., VA. to my 2nd great aunt, Frances Ann/Nancy KINSEL/KINSALE b. abt. 1801.Their names are listed as James DAYMUD and Ann KINSEL on the marriage record. It looks like they had 2 female children born after 1827 and before 1835, then a son, John b. 1835 in VA.Guessing the girls were born there, as well.
The family moved to Madison Twp., Perry Co., OH. by the 1840 Census.Frances's remaining living siblings and parents moved to Perry Co., OH. from VA. about that time.In the 1850 Madison Twp., Perry Co., OH. Census, Frances's mother, Nancy (LANE-)KINSEL, spelled KINSELL on that Census, is living in the household with them, also Frnces and James's son, John.By the 1860 Census, James and Frances had relocated to Clay Co., IL. and are found in the Census there. Then James is listed in the 1870 Davenport, Scott Co., IA. Census. A John DAYMUDE is also listed in the same city for that Census.I believe the spelling of DAYMUDE is different, though, and forgot how it was listed. The spellings of the surname vary from place to place, and record to record.
Spellings I have found, but not limited to are: DAYMUDE, DAYMUD, DAMUDE, DAMUD, DAMMOUD, DEMUDE, DEMUTH, DEMENT, DEMIT, DEMOND, DEMOTT, DENMEAD, AND DENMITT.
Frances's older brother, John KINSEL, married March 9, 1829 in Loudoun Co., VA. to Sophena DAYMUDE, believed to be the sister of James DAYMUDE.John and Sophena are found in the 1840 Madison Twp., Perry Co., OH. Census, but the surname spellings vary with the surname KINSEL, as well. That Census lists the surname spelled, KENSALE.John and Sophena disappear for the 1850 Census, but are believed to have moved somewhere around the Columbus or Franklin Co., OH. area, where thelast of their children are born and older daughters are married. Then John KINSEL must have died. Sophena KINSEL, now listed as Safrona KINSELL, with her remaining unmarried children are found in the 1860 Dry Grove Twp., McLean Co., IL. Census. She remarried December 29,1863 McLean Co., IL. to Harvey H. (maybe Henry) PEASE.No trace of her after that. Her son, Jacob A. KINSELL b. about 1843 in OH. stayed in the McLean Co., IL. area and married October 20, 1864 in McLean Co., IL. to "Virginia" Emily/Emma Virginia LANDES/LANDIS.
